Session Border Controller Week in Review
It was a busy week in the session border controller sector. Here are some of the major stories.
Deploying an ABC session border controller provided by Germany’s VoIP solutions provider FRAFOS GmbH, Twelve Telecom has successfully completed testing with British Telecom Wholesale’s IP Exchange service. Twelve Telecom can offer this new service to its resellers.
In another story, TELES announced a new SBC that provides network operators a network that is well shielded from outside attacks. It lets network operators convert to IP without worry. It is far more intuitive with its configuration and operation.
According to a recent report from Infonetics Research, enterprise session border controllers (eSBC) are expected to see increased demand over the next few years. From 2012 to 2017, the market is expected to jump 17 percent a year. Cisco (News - Alert), which was the market leader a year ago, remains the market leader in 2013. Last October, Cisco had gained the largest share of the eSBC market with 26 percent of total revenue. In the first half of 2012, global revenue was $82.5 million and was expected to grow to $430 million by 2016.
In addition, NetGain Technologies, a managed service provider, is ready to acquire U.S. Teks, a provider of strategic and tactical technology services. NetGain said that all 10 employees of U.S. Teks will now work for the company. In total, NetGain has acquired five companies in three years. This new acquisition will bring in 50 managed services contracts valued at over $100,000 a month for NetGain.
And Momentum Telecom, a provider of cloud-based communications, will begin using One Series multi-service router and gateway solutions from OneAccess (News - Alert) Networks to provide managed services to small- and medium-sized businesses, as well as enterprise customers. Momentum will combine the solutions from OneAccess Networks with OneProvisio, a TR-069 standards-based, auto configuration server, for savings for both on-net and off-net customers.
