Veryx Announces Upgraded Version of SAMTEST Carrier Ethernet Automated Testing Solution

A significantly upgraded and expanded version of the SAMTEST automated service activation and diagnostics solution from Veryx Technologies has been announced. The offering is geared toward carrier Ethernet network service providers as well as cable MSOs that provide MEF (News - Alert) CE 2.0-based business Ethernet and mobile backhaul services.
The SAMTEST solution offers automated and pre-built tests covering the ITU Y.1564, ITU-T Y.1731 and MEF CE 2.0 standards. It provides thorough verification of circuits before turn-up for E-line, E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access service types.
According to Veryx, many customer reported issues with carrier Ethernet networks can be tied to service attributes of MEF CE 2.0 and related issues like VLAN/CoS and burst handling. And yet many service providers and network operators look to ITU-T Y.1564 or RFC 2544 tests to resolve these issues. This is largely due to the fact that testing for MEF service attributes is typically time consuming and involves a good amount of manual testing.
The SAMTEST solution solves this problem, offering inbuilt automation that reduces the testing time for service turn-ups from weeks to hours. Highlights of the upgraded solution include CE 2.0 aligned tests that enable sharing results with partners through standardized templates, which accelerates wholesale service activation. SAMTEST also covers all of the CE 2.0 requirements as part of service activation, and performs verifications using test probes at both ends of the circuit or by using Y.1731 capabilities available in third-party Ethernet access devices.
