British Telecommunications plc, one of the world's premier providers of communications services and solutions, has recently opted for GENBAND's (News - Alert) SMART EDGE IP Exchange solution.
This selection will help the UK-based BT to expand its enhanced Global IP Interconnect services to wholesale customers across Asia and the Americas.
The SMART EDGE solution from GENBAND offers pioneering security, session management and policy control technologies. These help simplify the complexities in unifying disparate communication islands that the rapid growth of IP traffic creates.
Officials confirmed that BT (News - Alert) will deploy GENBAND solutions in two new hubs in Singapore and Miami, to deliver SIP-based IP Interconnect for other global tier one and tier two carriers in these regions.
"GENBAND is pleased to support BT's continued worldwide expansion, which is enabling the massive growth of IP traffic in major global regions," said Mark Pugerude (News - Alert), president of Global Sales for GENBAND, in a statement. "By providing local interconnect capabilities in key regions, our SMART EDGE IPX solution enables BT to reduce the cost of voice and data transport, improve the quality of calls while enabling the latest in IP-based solutions and functionality."
He further added: "As IP-enabled services continue to grow in popularity worldwide, we look forward to continuing our longstanding relationship with BT by bringing interconnect services to strategic regions, supporting IP to IP and IP to TDM traffic.”
The SMART EDGE IPX solution uniquely positions GENBAND to optimize networks, offer advanced IP services and improve quality of service for BT's growing customer base. Now, GIPX services of BT supports 290 communications providers worldwide.
In related TMC (News - Alert) news, GENBAND, a developer of next-generation networking solutions and services, has recently introduced its second annual GENFuzion Developer Challenge.
