Ibercom has entered into a strategic association with Sonus Networks (News - Alert) Inc. Ibercom can now facilitate enterprise SIP trunking and offer SIP interconnect to carrier associates, as Sonus Session Border Controller or SBC 5200 will be used to safeguard its VoIP border. Ibercom’s development plans to provide mobile voice network services to its 20,000 subscribers across Spain will also be ably supported by Sonus.

Ibercom offers a broad assortment of telecommunication services to organizations across Spain by advantageously utilizing Session Initiation Protocol (News - Alert) or SIP. Ibercom required a SBC offering for increasing the safety of its VoIP border. Ibercom can now provide economically viable SIP trunking for enterprise customers. Ibercom can also decrease operating expenses by regularizing SIP interconnection traffic to carrier associates.

After a thorough lab assessment, Ibercom found SBC 5200 ideal. SBC 5200 not only fulfilled all the pre-defined requisites of Ibercom, but also emerged at the top in test settings. Sonus solution’s best-in-class performance and capacity will allow Ibercom to enable the provision of novel mobile voice services.

In a statement, Olivier Chico, Head, Interconnection, Ibercom said, “We chose the Sonus SBC 5200 because it delivered the best performance in competitive testing. The SBC 5200 provides the greatest amount of versatility to support our company’s future growth into delivering mobile voice services. We see Sonus as a valued partner for the future.”

The future requirements of SIP communications are fulfilled by the SBC 5200. The solution not only provides embedded media transcoding, but also offers strong protection and sophisticated call routing in a high-performance, small form-factor device. One of the rapidly developing portfolios in the market, the Sonus 5200 can handle 64,000 sessions on a solitary server.

Serge Adam, VP, EMEA, Sonus said, “Forward-thinking service providers in EMEA, like Ibercom, are quickly moving to take advantage of the benefits that SIP offers in reducing their costs, while enabling them to deliver new revenue-generating services and improved quality to their customers. We believe that the Sonus SBC portfolio is proving that it is the reliable choice for service providers and enterprises looking to expand their business opportunities, while protecting their legacy investments.”
