Columbus International has picked SeaWell Networks’ Spectrum (News - Alert) solution which will be integrated into “Flow” Columbus” cable franchise in the Caribbean.

Darren Richer, chief technology officer, Columbus, said, “Spectrum’s comprehensive carrier-grade platform includes network-side per session management, dynamic repackaging and DRM translation, helping us solve the challenge of delivering IP-video over unmanaged networks, and eliminating the need to multi-encrypt every video file prior to delivery – a huge time and cost savings.”

Flow which is Columbus’s retail operation will be able to deliver its hybrid IP Video Services, like TV Everywhere services and IP Video on Demand easily to thousands of customers across various types of IP connected devices.

SeaWell Networks’ platform-based Spectrum Multiscreen 2.0 session delivery controller will help Columbus deliver live linear channels, network-based digital video recording and video on demand services efficiently.

Also Columbus will be able to simplify IP video delivery and improve adaptive video management cost effectively with this solution. SeaWell’s Spectrum features optimum scalability which will enable Columbus to extend the reach and quality of all services, said officials.

Brian Collie, CEO of SeaWell Networks, remarked, “We are delighted that Columbus selected SeaWell as its vendor of choice to support delivery of its innovative linear multiscreen TV Everywhere experience.”

Collie pointed out that Spectrum’s intelligent session delivery platform enhances the experience, and customer service for Columbus subscribers. Also the solution reduces downtime and transcoding, and  storage and delivery costs for the company.
