Provider of communications solutions Tadiran (News - Alert) Telecom has announced the general availability of Aeonix, a unified communications (UC) and collaboration solution.

Noting that current UC solutions are generally based on legacy platforms and “patches” of acquired technologies, Eldad Barak, president and CEO at Tadiran Telecom, said that Aeonix presents a unique approach to lower total cost of ownership (TCO).

“Aeonix's private cloud deployment empowers distributed environments with all the flexibility and scalability of pure software architecture and open standards,” Barak said.

The company has designed the newest offering to provide advantage to distributed organization. Company officials said that an intuitive communications platform consolidates business applications. Moreover, Aeonix features an open architecture and intuitive management interface, which allows customers to update according to the changing needs and demands of the industry.

The company has announced the general availability after a successful beta release. Customers were highly satisfied with the offering as it provides the benefit of automated diagnostics and recovery mechanisms in case of a breakdown, according to company officials.

Oregon based Medford School District is one of the sites where Aeonix was deployed during the beta phase. It was deployed in a distributed environment. Company officials said that it’s serving, as a unified cluster solution, 1100 users, in 20 district schools.

"Medford School was looking to upgrade to a Unified communications solution that was technologically advanced, scalable and easy to manage," said Jeffrey Bales, manager for network services at Medford School District.

Bales said that implementation of the Aeonix took half of the time that they had allocated and upgrading to Aeonix is a huge jump forward in technology and stability.

Earlier in November, the Chinese State Grid power certified Aeonix solution for use in China.

The Evolution of Session Border Control
Session Border Controllers have come a long way since they were first conceived in the early 2000s as a simple, security-focused element. As service providers and enterprises began deploying more advanced real-time applications over IP-including Unified Communications, video, instant messaging, and conferencing-the burden on SBCs grew in step.

The ABCs of PCI DSS + VoIP
As the boundaries between VoIP and IP-based data networks continue to blur, enterprises would be wise to apply the same levels of network security across all entrypoints. Session border controllers are designed to protect VoIP network borders from unauthorized entry, but not all SBCs are created equal in terms of security features and functionality.
