VOD Communications, a NET Quintum (News - Alert) authorized distributor for Southern Africa, has joined the Sonus Partner Assure Program, a turnkey campaign to deliver SIP transformations to the resellers of enterprise communications solutions.

The adoption of SIP-based unified communication has been growing along with SIP trunking the world over. Sonus offers the expertise and critical session border controller technology for effective SIP migrations.

By joining the Sonus Partner Assure Program, VOD Communications is now the first authorized Sonus Distributor to distribute Sonus Session Border Controllers (SBC) to reseller partners based in the sub-Saharan region.

The resellers will now be able to address the growing demand for SBCs that permit SIP trunking and SIP-based unified communications applications in their region.

Sonus Networks is a global leader in SIP communications. The latest Infonetics (News - Alert) Research reports show that Sonus Session Border Controllers (SBC) comprise the fastest-growing portfolio in the service provider market. As the fastest growing SBC vendor since 2011, Sonus has shown an industry-leading 19-share-point gain since Q1 2011, as per the Infonetics Service Provider and IMS VOIP Equipment and Subscribers, Q3 2012 report.

According to Infonetics global, the SBC service provider market is expected to grow 20 percent year-over-year through 2016.

Sonus offers the most complete portfolio of purpose-built SBCs, with the broadest portfolio of Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync qualified SBCs. The SNCs enable organizations of all sizes big and small to simplify their infrastructure, and helps them deploy video and unified communications features.

Sonus SBC 5200 provides up to 64,000 sessions, Sonus SBC 5100 up to 10 000 sessions, the Sonus SBC 2000 up to 600 sessions and Sonus SBC 1000 provides up to 100 sessions on a single server to the organizations that deploy them.

“We see tremendous opportunity in the Sonus portfolio for our resellers,” said Hanro Wentzel, director of VOD Communications. “As the adoption of SIP trunking and SIP-based unified communication grows and gains momentum, resellers need to be well-versed in the products and technologies that will enable them to serve their customers' needs. Sonus delivers the critical session border controller technology and expertise needed for effective SIP migrations, and VOD Communications is key to enabling delivery of these solutions to the reseller and enterprise market.”

Sonus has several Fortune 500 enterprises among its SBC customers. The impressive list includes the world's largest banks, airlines, retailers and healthcare providers.
