The CenterStage NX Series from OKI (News - Alert) is a line of communications servers created for large-scale carriers to serve as a foundation for Next Generation Network (NGN) services. The excellent performance, capacity, and dependability of every product that wears the CenterStage NX badge provides the ability to meet the strict requirements of the NGN networks. These networks consist of the next-generation social infrastructure.

Recently, the company introduced an upgraded version of its CenterStage NX3200 Session Border Controller. According to the company, this new version provides the industry's best-performing broadband codec converter.

Apart from providing smooth service exchange between carriers especially when LTE (News - Alert) (Long Term Evolution) takes off, the product also provides improved functionality and low delays of 20 ms or less for high-volume concurrent communications, the company stated.

To offer features that cater to the requirements of telecommunications carriers, OKI plans to further expand its CenterStage Series lineup. The company already offers various transfer technologies for high-volume and high-quality data, audio, and video transmission, and also carrier-grade hardware and software development technologies.

“In response to these infrastructure needs, OKI has achieved additional improvements in the performance of existing audio codec conversion functions, developing an innovative blade that provides the various broadband codec conversion functions described above and incorporating these blades in the NX3200," says Hidetoshi Saigou, GM, Info-telecom Systems Division at OKI. "These improvements also cap transfer delays at 20 ms or less to reduce audio quality degradation caused by codec conversion at multiple locations.”

In 2010, the company introduced "CTstageLite," a small-scale alternative for the "CTstage 5i" call center system.

The Evolution of Session Border Control
Session Border Controllers have come a long way since they were first conceived in the early 2000s as a simple, security-focused element. As service providers and enterprises began deploying more advanced real-time applications over IP-including Unified Communications, video, instant messaging, and conferencing-the burden on SBCs grew in step.

The ABCs of PCI DSS + VoIP
As the boundaries between VoIP and IP-based data networks continue to blur, enterprises would be wise to apply the same levels of network security across all entrypoints. Session border controllers are designed to protect VoIP network borders from unauthorized entry, but not all SBCs are created equal in terms of security features and functionality.
