Brocade (News - Alert) Ethernet switches provide the basis for high-performance connectivity in storage, IP, and converged network environments. These switches are highly dependable, scalable, and are designed for numerous environments. They facilitate a low TCO and fast ROI.

Recently, Hitachi Data Systems (News - Alert) selected these switches. Hitachi will make use of these switches in the new Hitachi Unified Compute Platform (UCP) a converged infrastructure solution, the company has announced.

Hitachi produces its UCP pre-validated reference solutions and integrated turnkey solutions with its storage and servers. The company will now make use of Brocade Ethernet and SAN fabric products which allows the company to support hypervisor, database and application environments, Brocade has stated.

Hitachi UCP converged infrastructure solutions now get a considerably simplified data center network as they now use the Brocade VDX standalone and embedded Ethernet fabric switches. Allowing faster virtual machine (VM) migrations with the help of zero-touch VM discovery, VM mobility and VM port configuration migration, Ethernet fabrics are created on Brocade VCS Fabric technology improve application installation. They are created specifically for highly virtualized environments.

“Brocade was selected as a valued component of the Hitachi UCP family of solutions based on our proven track record for delivering networking solutions with unprecedented simplicity and automation, massive scalability and reliability for consolidating business-critical enterprise applications," said Jason Nolet (News - Alert), vice president, Data Center Networking Group, at Brocade. "Brocade networking solutions provide a highly resilient foundation for the Hitachi storage and server options to support industry-leading hypervisor, database and application environments.”

Recently, the company announced that King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), the national science agency and laboratory for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, selected Brocade to provide an advanced network infrastructure that includes improved campus networking and load balancing solutions.
