This week, AGNITY, a global application solutions provider, formed a strategic alliance with Sonus Networks (News - Alert) Inc., a major company within the SIP communication space, that has bore the fruit of interoperability and seamless integration between both companies’ solutions for the enterprise and service provider spaces.

Applications from AGNITY include MobileCare, a one-of-a -kind mobile communications and collaboration solution with patient context; multimedia conferencing, a network-based multimedia conferencing solution that encompasses audio, video and text; and FlexYcharg, an online rating and charging solution that can leveraged to power multiple services simultaneously.

“High valued applications like MobileCare and Multimedia Conferencing enables clinicians and enterprises to improve productivity and reduce communications costs,” said AGNITY President and CEO, Sanjeev Chawla, in a statement. “The seamless integration of AGNITY’s platform and applications with Sonus infrastructure allows service providers to quickly and cost-effectively deploy revenue-generating services that increase their ARPU. We are excited to continue to partner with Sonus to capitalize on enterprise and service provider opportunities worldwide.”

On the other hand, the solutions powered by Sonus are the Sonus Session Manager, ideal for managing multimedia and communication sessions, and the Sonus Session Border Controllers (SBC).

With this partnership, both Sonus and AGNITY are enabling service providers to better optimize multi-vendor network environments as well as separate communications elements in order to ramp up revenue and cut costs.

“Sonus and Agnity (News - Alert) have been partnering for some time and together, we have a number of global customers benefitting from the ability to deliver differentiated services based on our joint solutions,” added Nancy Maluso (News - Alert), VP & GM Communication Applications at Sonus. “We look forward to continued success with the integration of AGNITY’s innovative solutions and the Sonus Session Manager, enabling service providers and enterprises within a variety of verticals to rapidly deploy new, advanced UC capabilities.”

A few weeks back, TMCNet reported that Sonus Networks – in addition to IntelePeer, Neustar, Swisscom and ZTE (News - Alert) Corporation – have all joined the Open Visual Communications Consortium (OVCC). This organization is touted as a group of service and solution providers responsible for developing the plan needed to deliver high-quality video solution that can be utilized by virtually any vendor on any network and any device, anywhere.

Sonus Networks is a Platinum sponsor of ITEXPO West 2012. Currently being held at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, TX, ITEXPO (News - Alert) is the world’s premier IP communications event. The Evolution of Session Border Control
Session Border Controllers have come a long way since they were first conceived in the early 2000s as a simple, security-focused element. As service providers and enterprises began deploying more advanced real-time applications over IP-including Unified Communications, video, instant messaging, and conferencing-the burden on SBCs grew in step.
