TMCnet Session Border Controller Week in Review

It was an especially exciting week in the session border controller space, and much of that buzz and excitement centered on one company – Sonus Networks (News - Alert). The session border controller provider released a video, planned its future after an important acquisition, and even managed to find time to ring the stock market bell!

As part of the “Sonus 3 in 3” video series on its YouTube (News - Alert) channel, Sonus featured a video of its vice president of global marketing, Wes Durow. In the video, Durow spoke about a variety of topics, specifically SIP, unified communications, and the impact of the cloud. “The modality of communication has also changed,” said Durow. “It’s no longer just a voice call. If you think about the transition of enterprise and service provider networks, it’s very much like the personal transition we go through in terms of how we connect.”

Last week, Sonus finalized the purchase of Network Equipment Technologies, and this week it explained its roadmap following that acquisition. The company is excited by this new business development and looks to go full throttle after spending some time building its team, program and portfolio. “The next step in our transformation from a VoIP company focused on telcos to one very much focused on UC and the cloud and reaching that through business partners and a channel program,” said Todd Abbott (News - Alert), senior vice president of worldwide sales.

The exciting week for Sonus was capped off with a chance to ring the opening bell at NASDAQ on Thursday, September 13. Raymond Dolan, president and CEO for the company, and Moe Castonguay, senior vice president and chief financial officer, had the honor of ringing the bell, and afterward tey held a meeting for the investment community at the NASDAQ MarketSite.

Those are the highlights of a busy news week in the session border controller space. Check back here for everything you need to know!
