Kilopass Reduces Power and System Cost for Tehuti Networks

Kilopass Technology’s XPM (eXtra Permanent Memory) NVM IP core has been chosen for the latest TN4010 single port 10GbE Controller from Tehuti Networks.

Kilopass Technology provides semiconductor logic non-volatile memory (NVM) intellectual property (IP). By storing configuration data, device and network IDs, Kilopass’ XPM enables the TN4010 to consume less power and afford lower system cost than alternative solutions.

Kilopass XPM IP also provides the product quality and life cycle required by the commercial-grade workstations and network appliances.

"We are very excited to be part of the Tehuti TN4010 design that provides an order of magnitude boost in performance at very low power and cost levels," said Linh Hong, vice president of marketing and sales at Kilopass Technology Inc. “It demonstrates the ability of the anti-fuse 2T memory cell at the heart of all Kilopass NVM IP offerings to serve the most demanding network controller designs.”

Built with standard logic CMOS, Kilopass XPM NVM IP memory is the ideal non-volatile storage medium for next generation 10GbE Controller.

Other features of the product include cost effectiveness and foundry portability that allow designers to select any of the major silicon foundries and a range of different process nodes from 180nm to 28nm.

“Kilopass NVM IP was effective in helping us reach the low system price point and power consumption goals of our new TN4010 design,” said Nir Sever, chief operation officer, Tehuti Networks, a fabless semiconductor company focused on cost effective 10Gb Ethernet Network Traffic Accelerators.

Kilopass Technology was in news earlier this month when it successfully expanded enablement of its XPM (eXtra Permanent Memory) NVM IP on the Dongbu HiTek AN180 and BD180 BCD (Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) processes.

The Evolution of Session Border Control
Session Border Controllers have come a long way since they were first conceived in the early 2000s as a simple, security-focused element. As service providers and enterprises began deploying more advanced real-time applications over IP-including Unified Communications, video, instant messaging, and conferencing-the burden on SBCs grew in step.

The ABCs of PCI DSS + VoIP
As the boundaries between VoIP and IP-based data networks continue to blur, enterprises would be wise to apply the same levels of network security across all entrypoints. Session border controllers are designed to protect VoIP network borders from unauthorized entry, but not all SBCs are created equal in terms of security features and functionality.
